Q: How did you get your name?
A: Random inspiration.
Q: How old are you?
A: NOYB :)
Q: What level are you?
A: As cut and pasted from finger: Level: 250 [QC Assistant]
Q: How would you describe yourself?
A: Take the stereotype for a redhead and that's pretty much me, though a little typical Sagittarius is also mixed in.
Q: Where do you live?
A: The south of California... oh wait, that's southern California -- only Europeans have rights to "The south of"
Q: How long have you been logging on to AoD?
A: About 6 to 8 months, I think.
Q: How did you first get in contact with Ages of Despair?
A: telnet -- laf. I think I found AoD in the MUD Connector listings.
Q: Do you regularly play or wiz on any other MUDs?
A: Not currently.
Q: Are you a normal mudder or do you seldom log on?
A: Is there a third option? Like obsessive, maybe? I log in way too often. :)
Q: Have you met any fellow mudders in RL?
A: Long ago, yes... but not recently.
Q: What was your first kill and if you ever died, what was the first thing that killed you?
A: First kill -- on AoD it was probably a rabbit (sniff). No comment to the question about dying.
Q: Did you ever get killed by a ("the") horrible creature?
A: Nope.
Q: Who is your favourite and most hated npc respectively?
A: I don't have a most hated .. favorite... hmm... don't have one of those either.
Q: What is the funniest/strangest thing that ever happened to you on AoD?
A: Well, offhand, when I was using a backpack and my carry allowance went to -96 (at about level 10).
Q: Do you have any piece of equipment you just can't live without?
A: Oh that would depend on which of my characters we're discussing -- leather staff for my healer, moonblade for my Paladin... other things for other characters.
Q: Do you have a "special place" where you like to hang out, a private corner so to speak?
A: Not really... as a Wiz, my workroom, as a player, I never "hang out" unless there's an invasion I don't like, then it's my house.
Q: How much of your time on AOD do you spend hanging out or chatting compared with exping?
A: nearly 0
Q: What is the best thing about Ages of Despair?
A: It's potential!
Q: What is the worst thing about Ages of Despair?
A: Not enough areas!
Q: Do you have any driving ambitions on AOD?
A: Well, at the moment it's to help get areas into the game -- they're so badly needed that if we have 10 people actively playing at once, many areas stay wiped out. Another is to help keep morale up there among new coders (and a few old ones).
Q: Is there any advice you would like to give to new players that just entered our world?
A: READ the help files first. Players (and wizards for that matter) are much more willing to help those who ask questions to which answer are not easily found.
Alanna: hmmm should be "new players who entered...", Alanna ponders the situation.
Mephitic: no, the 'have' is missing, my bad cut n paste.
Alanna: well, players would use "who" not "what", I mean players are who not that.
Alanna chuckles.
Maphitic: your qc'ing my interview?
Alanna grins.
Mephitic raises an eyebrow inquisitively.
Alanna: always! ... habit!
Alanna tickles you incessantly
Mephitic bonks Alanna on the head.
Alanna giggles merrily.
Q: Were you ever convicted of a crime?
A: Nope.
Q: How many friends/family play?
A: On this MUD, several friends have come over from a couple of other muds ... and one family member that I know of.
Q: Favourite quote?
A: TWO favorites:
A: ""They tell me some music is better than it sounds." -- Samuel Clemens aka Mark Twain
A: "Those who would sacrifice liberty for a little safety deserve neither..." Benjamin Franklin (I believe that is a paraphrase, actually.)
Q: What music are you listening to now?
A: Actually I have a movie on -- but the movie is Bette Midler in "The Rose" -- which is a movie loosely based on the life of Janis Joplin and the music in it rocks.
Mephitic sings, o/~ take another lil piece of my heart now baby o/~.
Alanna goes: Woo woo!
Alanna says: She has the raspiest voice, but so much soul in it... had
Alanna sniffs.
Q: Is there anything else you would like to mention about yourself or your life?
A: Sure -- I tend to be quiet online, and work hard. But this doesn't mean I'm not friendly, say Hello! sometime. :)
Q: If you could remove one of the questions from this interview and replace it with another one, which would you remove and what would you replace it with?
A: "How old are you?" ( I mean, really, who cares?) ... would replace it with: "What is your favorite art form and why?"
Q: And of course I will have to ask you to answer your own question now.
A: I don't ave a favorite art form, I like them all -- from graphic arts (paintings, sculptures, any) to music (opera, to folk, rock to whatever), dance, (ballet, modern, jazz)... name it, I probably like it. :)
A: Though I lean a little more toward music.
Q: Who would you like me to interview next, and why?
A: Probably Grug. If you've interviewed him, then Tristan. If he is interviewed already, then Meifert.
A: Grug because he has done a TON of work here and is unknown. Tristan because he will likely DO a ton here. Meifert because he is a very fun player.
Q: If I do that interview, is there a specific question that you want me to ask?
A: Grug because he has done a TON of work here and is unknown. Tristan because he will likely DO a ton here. Meifert because he is a very fun player.
A: Oh dear, well, I have no specific questions of them -- the generic ones are fine :)
Q: Do I have your permission to make this information public on the People of AoD webiste or any other media?
A: Oh sure, go for it. Wait, lemme get my lawyers number. :)
