Q: How did you get your name?
A: I stole it from a friend of mine from camp when I was younger *laugh* I thought it was a pretty name, and I've been using it for years as a character name. Though it turns out I misspelled it - hers was Maegan. I like mine better *grin*
(I agree, Maegen is prettier :) -- Ed)
Q: How old are you?
A: 23
Q: What level are you?
A: 515, yay for blue on who
Q: How would you describe yourself?
A: I'm random, I guess is the best word I can think of. I can be very serious sometimes and really silly the next (though more often silly than serious.) And oh, do I have a temper. :)
Q: Where do you live?
A: Buffalo, New York
Q: How long have you been logging on to AoD?
A: Since either late '98 or early '99, I can't remember the exact date. My score says "as long as anyone can remember" *grin*
Q: How did you first get in contact with Ages of Despair?
A: Ulme and I were friends on 3k, and we were talking once after I hadn't seen him in a while and he said he'd started a new mud, and then offered me a wizard position.
(That seems to be how most older wiz ended up here. well, not me though! -- Ed)
A: Yeah, I think our better wizzes are the ones Ulme knew personally. We had some pretty crazy wizards early on who came in as strangers, but I think they're mostly gone now.
(better wizards? -- Ed)
(*leer* -- Ed)
A: The ones who are still working, as opposed to the crazy ones who wreaked havoc and ran. *grin* Although I was guilty of that for a time.
Q: Do you regularly play or wiz on any other MUDs?
A: No, I log onto 3k to catch up with my friends once every few days but I'm never on for more than half an hour or so.
Q: Are you a normal mudder or do you seldom log on?
A: I'm usually logged on, though not often in this window. So in-between I guess.
Q: Have you met any fellow mudders in RL?
A: Many, though none from AoD.
Q: Did you ever get killed by a ("the") horrible creature?
A: No, I've never played AoD. :) well, there was a brief time that I tried out playing a healer, but it's way more fun to be a wiz.
Q: Who is your favourite and most hated npc respectively?
A: Hmm, I only really know NPCs of my own and from areas I've reviewed, but I guess my favorite is my witch, Guenon. I got a lot of private chuckles while coding her *grin* And my most hated...I'm pretty sure that trivia dragon has said something nasty to me before.
Q: What is the funniest/strangest thing that ever happened to you on AoD?
(I would count Zoso as an answer to this question -- Ed)
A: Yeah, I guess Zoso is the strangest *duck* But seriously, I have this log of a conversation Ashkelroth, Pirate, and I had on the wiz line once involving "chickies" vs. "chicken" and I still crack up every time I come across it.
Q: Do you have any piece of equipment you just can't live without?
A: Hmm, toss-up between my cloak and my qc scroll. :)
Q: What do you prefer to do, Solo or Party?
A: Is this some kind of dirty question? ;)
(well, if you want to interpret it that way... -- Ed)
A: Well, usually when I mud, I prefer solo, because people are always getting me killed. But when I did play here, I couldn't really live without a party.
Q: Do you have a "special place" where you like to hang out, a private corner so to speak?
A: Hmm, either my or Zoso's workroom, I guess, though for a while I really liked hanging out in one of the rooms in my upcoming area. :)
Q: How much of your time on AOD do you spend hanging out or chatting compared with exping?
(well, uh..coding -- Ed)
A: Oh, I was going to say, uh, that would be a 100% of the time, as compared with exping *grin*
A: When I'm working, it's somewhere between 25-50% of the time. Chatting is a good stress relief after battling the bugs! But lately I've been hung up on one thing, so I'd say most of my time has been spent hanging out.
Q: What is the best thing about Ages of Despair?
(Faye is a valid answer -- Ed)
(Faye tries to look cute. -- Ed)
A: Definitely the people. I'd go crazy if the people here weren't so great. :) Most people are really friendly and funny and just enjoyable to be around.
A: and Faye is one of those people ;)
(Good girl *pets Maegen* -- Ed)
A: And so is Zoso (so I don't get a LOOK later)
Q: What is the worst thing about Ages of Despair?
A: The drama. I wish people who come on to cause trouble would just find something better to do with their time.
Q: Do you have any driving ambitions on AOD? Is there anything that you want to achieve or perhaps something that you have already achieved?
A: Well, as you know, I'm working on a really, really large project right now. My big goal is to finish that! That'll probably be the biggest accomplishment of my lifetime if I do (as sad as that sounds.)
Q: Is there any advice you would like to give to new players that have just entered our world?
A: Hmm. Don't call Zaknafein anything with "poo" in it.
(No matter how tempting it may be... -- Ed)
Q: Were you ever convicted of a crime?
A: on AoD or off?
(Up to you -- Ed)
A: well, I'm a good girl in real life *grin* I don't think I was ever *convicted* on AoD, but there was this time I found code for a pet that would send a message to the whole mud, and I was using that to echoall funny stuff around. I thought it was funny, but Nemesis was not amused. I wasn't a very smart wiz back then. *grin* I went into hiding for a while when she sent me a note saying that the file had been "turned over to law for review".
Q: Have you ever engaged in so-called mudsex?
(I bet that will be one of the censored questions :P -- Ed)
A: Well, Zoso IS awfully hard to resist...
(But he is a finn! -- Ed)
A: You and I both know about the irresistable attraction of Finnish orc blood!
Q: Favourite quote?
A: Hmm, every time I've been asked this, the first thing that comes to mind is, "Life is pain, Highness. Anyone who tells you differently is selling something." I guess that's probably depressing. :)
Q: What music are you listening to now, if any?
A: None, I can't listen and write at the same time. I'm a very focused person (*tries not to look blonde*)
Q: If you could remove one of the questions from this interview and replace it with another one, which would you remove and what would you replace it with?
A: The advice for new players - cause are the new players reading this? I don't know. And I'd replace it with...hmm, let me think just a minute
A: I like coming up with bizarre and random questions to ponder to get people to say funny things *grin* Like, "What is a
Q: And of course I will have to ask you to answer your own question now.
A: An avariel is a winged elf, of course. :) And we're devastatingly gorgeous, to boot.
Q: Who would you like me to interview next, and why?
A: Triel, because she's one of the Sexy Female Wizzes and hasn't been interviewed. Everyone wants to know all the juicy facts about us.
Q: If I do that interview, is there a specific question that you want me to ask?
A: I don't know why, but Strongbad e-mail questions just popped into my head. "Dear Triel, What would you do if you could be invisable [sic] for one day??? Signed, Sin Studly17"
Q: Do I have your permission to make this information public on the People of AoD webiste or any other media?
A: Of course
